VOLUME 002 - BEAUJIE SHIT

Clubbers,

It's official now - mild obsession has settled in - which, hopefully, ends with your enjoyment! Beaujolais is a great drink. It's mild-mannered, goes down easy and doesn't take itself to seriously. I like people like I like my Beaujolais. What's funny - is there is only one wine from Beaujolais here - but I'll explain...

KARIM VIONNET - BEAUJOLAIS VILLAGES 2017

Karim was a baker before becoming a winemaker. He worked under some of the great Beaujolais winemakers and focuses on simple, terroir-driven, natural wine. This is a pretty good expression of what Beaujolais should be! A good place to start!

CLAUS PREISINGER - PUSZTA LIBRE! ZWEIGELT/SANKT LAURENT 2018

Putza is a chuggable, juicy, peppery wine from Austria MADE in the style of Beaujolais meant to be drunk chilled with a big ol' glass. "Puszta" is the Hungarian name for the Pannonian Steppe, a vast plain that covers an area of 50,000 km in Hungary. Claus "wants to make wine: pure, natural and low tech - out of my instincts". Gekuhlt servieren

DOMAIN DE LA GARRELIERE - GAMAY SANS TRA LA LA 2018

This wine is fun to say - made from Gamay grapes (same as Beaujolais) from the Loire - a hotbed for the natural wine movement. The label basically describes the wine perfectly. The French would call it "gouleyant" - meaning it is gluggable and smashable! smash on!

LES ATHLETES DU VIN - CHENIN 2017

An athletic wine - Les Athletes Du Vin is a project focused on producing great value typical wines from the Loire. The idea was conceived by a group of winemakers called "Vini Be Good" who work together to distribute their wines in France. This Chenin blanc is from 35-year old vines in sand and clay. Fruity wines with good acid - good with a shellfish, spicy foods, or some grilled fish! Not a Beaujolais (or gamay), but will cleanse your palette nicely between each of the other 3.

**** BONUS BOTTLE ** (LIMITED )L'IMPARFAIT MACERATION 2018 - THE JOE BEEF WINE**

The BONUS BOTTLE comes from Ontario. It is a little project between Dave McMillan (from Joe Beef) and Hinterland. This is the second year for this wine, which got some press briefly last year. An important wine for natural winemaking in Ontario!
