In celebration of our favourite day of the year - Beaujolais Nouveau 2019 - we are dropping some fresh, juicy, gulpers!
If you haven't already, I'd encourage you all to head the LCBO (yes, I said it) and snag a bottle or two of the Nouveau! It's the newest wine from 2019 that gets released on the 3rd Thursday of November - meant to be drunk fresh and with friends. It's cheap, it's great, and it won't be around long. That said, back to your original natty-boi programming...
NEON-EON - PINOT NOIR 'NOUVEAU' 2019
This new-new comes from BC where Tyler tries to create wines that "are alive". Only organic and biodynamic grapes with "nothing added and nothing removed". I haven't tried this, but it should be electric ⚡️. No sulphites added. We love to support our Canadian wine friends doing cool stuff.
REVEL - MARECHAL FOCH PIQUETTE
If you don't know or haven't enjoyed Revel - this is for you. Revel is actually a cidery in Guelph. Tariq is the dude there who is crazy for the ferment. He's recently started a line of wine too, called Ibi wines. The reason why this bottle is here is because it is a Piquette - a "baby wine". What is Piquette?? Good question. Piquette is made with the final pressings of grapes. In history, it's been made by the farm-hands who couldn't afford "real" wine but could muster up some low alcoholic drinks with the scraps - that go down easy. This is no different, but Tariq takes apple water on top of already pressed grapes to make his Piquette with no added sulfur. You've never seen a colour like this - I can guarantee it. GLUG. All hail the "sessional wine".
DOMAINE BULLIAT - BIBINE BEAUJOLAIS-VILLAGES 2018
It wouldn't be right if there were no Beaujolais in this mixer. So, here you go. The label should tell you everything you need to know, but, Noel and Loic Bulliat are father-son winemakers. Concern for the environment made them convert their estate to Organic in 2010. This wine is not new-new, but it is yum-yum.
DOMAINE BRAND - PINOT GRIS FLEURS MACERATION 2018
Philipe joined his father's organic estate in 2006 and pushed his father to go further and go biodynamic and without additives. They add no so2. This Pinot Gris has a neon glow and looks more red than orange. It's beautiful. Enjoy.
