DELINQUENTE WINE CO - TUFF NUT BIANCO D'ALESSANO 2019

Our first Australian producer comes from The Riverland just east of Adelaide. They get their southern Italian varietals from organic vineyards and make their wine with minimal intervention. "Delinquente" means delinquent in Italian - speaks to their desire to buck the trend, break the rules and do things their way. It's hot there, so they pick their grapes early for low alcohol, high natural acidity and - what I like to call - that super glugin' slap!  Read the back of this wine for a little  

PODERI CELLARIO - SAN PE BARBERA FRIZZANTE 2018

You may recognize this producer from 2 Glug Klubs ago! I liked their E Grino so much that I wanted to try more. This is their natural Barbera - it's got a bit of fizz on it, which makes it SO GLUG. In Northern Italy, Barbera is considered the "lesser" varietal than the famous sister grape Nebbiolo and therefore doesn't earn the best grape-growing real estate. But, it's cheaper price-point, high acid, and low tannins make it the quintessential "wine of the people"! It's what I stand for, so open and drink merrily! (serve chilled)

 


HENRI MILAN - REYNARD REBELS GRENACHE/CARIGNAN

Monsieur Milan is an OG of organic farming in Provence. He's been doing it since 1988 and did no sulfur wines long before they were fashionable. His best-growing varietals were not prescribed by the traditional French wine rules, so rather than follow suit, he de-classified his wine to "Vin de France" (ask me more about this in person) - aka - he's standing up for his terroir and what he believes in. It's so freaking delicious - it's one of my favourite wines I've tasted all year.

 

PROGETTO CALCARIUS - NU LITR ORANGE

After visiting Puglia (the heel of Italy) this year, I fell in love with the food, people and a natural wine made by this rock-star producer Valentina Passalacqua. So much so, that I came home and immediately tried to find it. I could not. But, through a few pulled strings, I was able to get my hands on a case of this incredible wine and I am so stoked to share it with you all. Not a lot of people will have the pleasure of tasting this wine in Ontario - not a lot came here and you simply just can't find it. It's precious, but it's insanely delicious and not meant to be kept - so share it with some good friends and family. Super natty, “Ca” stands for calcium on the periodic table - but, represents the salinity and freshness this wine has as it’s grown a few hundred meters from the sea. The "Litr" format (my fave) to give you a bit more! ENJOY!!
